stopped. What's wrong? So my 4 cylinder 96 Honda Accord was running fine, just a little sluggish. It had been two years since the last tune up so I took it to our local mechanic, asked him to tune it up. I get it back and the car now keeps stalling every time you stop unless you keep one foot on the brake and keep giving it gas. I call the mechanic he says - "all I did was change the plugs and fuel filter." I had changed the air filter. He said that's all you do for a tune up with that car. He suggested disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to see if the computer would reset itself. We did. It didn't. What's wrong with my car now that wasn't wrong when I took it in?

when you say keep your foot on the gas, do you mean a little bit or a lot?
i dunno if this is possible but maybe the fuel filter has been fitted incorrectly?
maybe the plug gaps are wrong when he put new ones in?
also check all wiring in the engine bay for dirt or disconnected wires. he may have forgotten to reconnect up a wire for some sort of emmission sensor or something

well, You can sue the mechanic, if serious, but i would say loose plug wires, or bad distributor

put sea-foam in gas, 1 time
