halaacpi.dll error problem. When i try to re install windows.?

my system somehow got corrupted. Desktop icons are not being displayed even the task manager, as it has been blocked by the administrator. When i try to re install windows xp, At blue setup page, the following error occurs. file i386 halaacpi.dll could not be loaded. The error code in 7. When I try to use another CD, it gives the following error. 'file i386 ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded. The error code is 7' can some one guide me the troubleshooting steps.
