half my iphone screen working :@ !?

hi ive had my iphone 3gs for a few moths (not insured btw or contract) and half my screen works i cant do the unlock slider but the mp3 controls at the top of the screen work :s been like this a few days now anyone had this problem? how much would it cost roughly to get fixed im from the u.k as well thanks
i have not dropped it aswel.
