Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix. What are all those silver glass ball

things? a.k.a "prophecies"? I was watching it the other night and this is the part that always confuses me. What are the prophecies, like, what do they do?

these are prophecies (prediction of the future) by witches/wizards called "Seers". The prophecies that we see in the book and the movie are different prophecies about different wizards, and one of those prophecies happened to be Harry Potter's too.

The prophecies are thought up by Seers people who can tell the future. They are usually unconcious thoughts, but they predict the future and they are about a certain person. They were stored in the Hall Of Prophecy until Dumbledore's Army destroyed the entire thing unintentionally.
