R.I.P Severus Snape.
"He was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew."
—Harry Potter tells his son about Severus Snape
Despite his cold personality, I've always admired his unconditional love for Lily. His unrequited love tells a sad story; how he made a mistake that broke off his relationship with Lily forever, making him miserable and regretful. He dreaded seeing her marry the man he despised most. An even greater mistake he made led to the death of Lily and her husband, and in great remorse he vowed to protect their son Harry Potter in honor of his mother's sacrifice. Harry inherited the looks and traits of his father which reminded Snape of his hatred for James, but inherited the eyes of his mother Lily.
He kept his life intensely private but was in secret a good and loyal man. At his time of death he ordered Harry to look at him so he would die looking into his mother's eyes. This devasated me and touched me immensely. This man has gained my utmost respect and love for him.
He didn't deserve to die.
I think it was admirable of Harry when he honored Snape's death by naming his second son after him, and how he ensured that his portrait was displayed among Hogwarts previous masters.
