has anyone felt numbness in the face from using the nicotine patch?

My brother was using a nicotine patch, I think he used one, he had a bad taste and now his face is numb. He went to the ER they did a cat scan, didn't find anything.His mouth is drooping and his eye look weird.He hasn't used the patch for 5 days now.
 
I just put on my first patch almost an hour ago, layed down, and now my face is numb. Has his face gone back to normal? Did the doctors find anything?
