I Just Had Mirena Inserted This Monday...And They Said That I Was Not Big Enough For It..So My Body Might Reject It And Push It Out..But I Was Wondering If It Hurts When It Falls Out..And How Can I Tell....
IF ITS ANYTHING LIKE IM FEELING.. IS SHARPS PAINS DOWN IN YOUR CERVIX.. I CAN ACUTALLY FEEL THE WHOLE PLASTIC THING XCEPT THE STRINGS AS IF ITS UPSIDE DOWN OR SOMETHING.. NOTHING VERY PAINFUL .. JUST ON COMFORTABLE

Please, everyone. First of all remember that this is an advice board, but most of the people on this board are not qualified to give medical advice and you should ALWAYS ask your doctor. Always remember that medical advice offered online could be false or outdated. Also, your doctors should all have told you never to pull on the strings of the IUD. If you suspect it has moved see a medical professional right away. Many of you felt pain because pulling on it can tear at your uterusand cause potential infections. Even if you don't have insurance or can't see your normal doctor right away you can always go straight to the emergency room. Intense or different bleeding, pain, and the strings changing length noticeably are all reasons to seek a medical professional. If you suspect that there's a reason why your IUD may have moved or isn't working for other reasons always use backup protection such as a condom. If your doctor didn't inform you of how to properly check for the strings or if he/she didn't tell you not to pull on them notify someone in charge at the facility immediately and seek out a new doctor. You should always be informed of proper care techniques, risks, and possible side-effects.

My mirena felt a little low and I could only feel one string, so I pulled very gently a little to see if the other string was still present or not. Next thing I knew I heard a popping noise and I just felt different. For the last few weeks I had felt odd, not quite sure how to explain it just not quite right. I moved my fingers just a little and the next thing I knew I was holding my mirena. I had it in for 3.5 years. Not to be too graphic, but there was a very light amount of blood, similar to spotting, on the mirena and a dried clump of mucus where the threads meet the strings. It has been a couple hours and I haven't had any pain or bleeding. Has anyone else had experience with this? I'm wondering if the mirena was already incorrectly placed, explaining the 'odd' feeling I had experienced in my reproductive area for the last few weeks.

I've had mine inserted oct 22-2012. I felt like crap the whole time and the insertion was super painful! Yesterday I felt like a had to pee frequently and boy does it hurt! I was on my knees and it burns! I have a friend who got pregnant while having the iud in! I'm reading all your stories and feel like the obgyns should tell us about these things! In fact mine didn't tell me anything at all about the pain of problems that could come from this! I also this most women including myself have their iud moved or fall out because of sex!
I'm due for a check up in 2 weeks but I sill not wait I'm going to get seen tmrw n have it removed! It really isn't the best contraception solution, it's too good to be true and honestly I'd rather use other ways than feel pain! Also, from what I read, you will pay dearly for it after it comes out if it has been in u for a while( heavy extended bleeding, ovarian systs, pain, cramping...) I'm really just done! I'm going to listen to my body n do what's right!
Good luck to you all!

I've had the iud in for about two months now and the other day showering I felt my strings really low. So the next day in the shower I felt the iud had fallen and was half way out. I pulled on it and that was really painful but was able to take it out. Haven't had a chance to go to the doctor's to see what they can do. Since then i've been having a lot of stomach pain and scared I can be prego and I have a 1 yr old and a four month and really not the time to have another one. Has anyone gotten pregnant from it fallen out?

i have had my iud for 2 years and today i went in for my yearly check up and about 5 hours after it i was cramping went the bathroom and there is my iud ..

I got the iud put in back in april of 2012 after having my son went to the dr yesterday just found out i am pregnant again. My iud fell out and i am going through a divorce. My son is only 9 months old.

IUD Gone

I had a very bad period starting Dec 13th and was still bleeding 18 days later. Lots of clotting, bad moods, changed pad and tampons like crazy. I was scared so I ended up going to the doc who found no strings, and after yesterday (Jan 4th, 2013) NO IUD. I had a ultra sound which showed NOTHING and now they want to do a laparoscopy view?!?!? WHY, it isn't there. I did not see it but I just know it's gone!

MY iud fell out after 4 years and for no reason that I can think of. One day I felt the string lower than usual and by the end of the day it was caompletly out. I am worried that it came out because I am pregnant since I haven't had a period this month and nothing since the mirena came out. I have sore breasts and a huge appetite for weird foods. HELP!!

I had my Mirena for 4.5 years. This past Sunday I started having the worst cramps id ever experienced, I was going through a Super tampon and Overnight pads every hours. I went to sleep on a heating pad and then the cramps woke me up again...I'd never seen that much blood in my life... I went to clean myself up and the IUD pus strings was sitting in the toilet paper. After the IUD was out the cramps subsided and the bleeding slowed. My husband is anti-vasectomy and I cant take B.C. pills due to medical condition. Not sure what Im going to do.

This is my second Mirena IUD. The first was professionally removed so my husband and I could have another baby and that one gave me no troubles. This second one though was strange. Typically, there are no periods with the IUD inserted, but suddenly two weeks ago I started having a really heavy period so I went to my ob/gyn to have it checked. Everything was in its place and I left feeling confident that this was a fluke period. The period finally started subsiding a couple days ago and then suddenly it was back today with a lot of painful cramping. Finally, I felt this weird sensation almost like labor pains and rushed to the toilet where I passed a huge blood clot. It totally felt like afterbirth so I was freaking out that I'd had a miscarriage or something. I looked in the toilet bowl and saw a little white thing sticking out of the blood clot so I grabbed it out to find that it was the IUD. The painful labor-like cramping is now gone, but my belly still aches and the bleeding is super heavy. I remember the bleeding before (when my first was removed) to be super heavy too so it's probably normal, but what the heck? Aren't I supposed to get at least 4 years out of this thing? Even though I'm only 28 and my husband 33, he and I are done having kids so I guess this is a hint for us to get ready for his vasectomy.
