Please, everyone. First of all remember that this is an advice board, but most of the people on this board are not qualified to give medical advice and you should ALWAYS ask your doctor. Always remember that medical advice offered online could be false or outdated. Also, your doctors should all have told you never to pull on the strings of the IUD. If you suspect it has moved see a medical professional right away. Many of you felt pain because pulling on it can tear at your uterusand cause potential infections. Even if you don't have insurance or can't see your normal doctor right away you can always go straight to the emergency room. Intense or different bleeding, pain, and the strings changing length noticeably are all reasons to seek a medical professional. If you suspect that there's a reason why your IUD may have moved or isn't working for other reasons always use backup protection such as a condom. If your doctor didn't inform you of how to properly check for the strings or if he/she didn't tell you not to pull on them notify someone in charge at the facility immediately and seek out a new doctor. You should always be informed of proper care techniques, risks, and possible side-effects.
