Has anyone had the Mirena IUD fall out?

If you think your IUD has fallen out or slipped down, or you can feel the plastic bits DON'T pull on it but seek a doctor within 72 hours :) I hope that helps. I just called our free healthline (I live in nz) and spoke to a nurse after realizing that my IUD had slipped down and I can feel the plastic. It's late here and I have had a few glasses of wine so I'm not about to go driving off to the emergency room!
 
My Mirena just fell out. I have had the same symptoms as most of you. I have had it for 3 years with very light periods about every three months. It has been great! I started bleeding 2 1/2 weeks ago, like a regular period. That stopped then I started again really heavy. I have had large blood clots for the past several days. I called the Dr's office yesterday; the nurse told me that if I bled through a tampon or pad in an hour or less, to call back. Tonight I bled through a super in 35 minutes. While I was using the bathroom, I felt a very large clot pass. I looked in the toilet and the Mirena was in the toilet inside the blood clot. I called the Dr, who told me he has never had this happen before. I have to see the Dr. tomorrow.
 
I'm so glad i found this post. I have had the Mirena in for just over 5 mon. I have had spotting on and off, depression, anxiety, NO sex drive and weight gain. I'm so glad I'm not imagining this. I will be getting it removed in 2 wks.
 
i got my iud the last day in june, i had a period in july and i have not had one since. my boyfriend told me he thought it was coming out and the next two days i experienced a light period and today i went to the bathroom and im bleeding bad, is my iud gonna come out
 
dear god please dont let me be pregnant again.

My baby girl is 5 months old. Got the iud on sept 21st. Felt the strings regularly. Haven't had any problems, till now that is. Been having very crampy feelings in my abdomen and it feels like it did when I was pregnant with my daughter. So I checked the strings... Longer and felt like they weren't attached to anything. Gently (like the doctor said) pulled on them, out in my hand comes the mirena. We had sex like a week ago. I'm wondering how long it has been loose. I'm wondering if I could be pregnant again. That would soooooo not me good. My body didn't do well at all the first time. And its way too soon. I'm very nervous. It didn't really hurt when it came out so that's why I'm thinking it might have already been out. Don't have insurance anymore, scared. I don't think I could handle another c-section. Or another baby. Or being pregnant again! My husband and I are very worried.
 
ANYONE USING A MIRENA PLEASE READ THIS - I had a mirena put in about 12mths ago and my periods became lighter and shorter (which was great), and also more irregular...about every two weeks I had either some bleeding or spotting. Then after 6mths my period stopped all together - which they say can happen, and is perfectly normal. So I didnt think anything of it! A couple of months later I started feeling tired and run down, went to see my doctor - who knew all of the above - they did blood tests and found my iron was low but nothing too much to worry about...then a couple more months went by I put on weight and my boobs started to get sore, just like in pregnancy. Just after Xmas I felt like my tummy was growing but thought it was due to too much eating and drinking , anyway did a preg test not long after and it was POSITIVE. Went straight to the docs who did an ultrasound and told me i was 15 weeks PREGNANT!! So now Im in an awful situation where I have to make a decision to have a baby which I obviously wasnt planning, or go ahead with a termination. SO ALL YOU LADIES OUT THERE USING IT BEWARE - THEY CAN AND DO FALL OUT AND I HAD NO CLUE. I didnt feel or see anything unusual and feel totally let down by the Mirena.
 
I got my IUD inserted on Jan.12.2011..I had cramping already before i even went to get it. I haven't had children and have always had heavy not normal periods. I cant take anything with estrogen so the Mirena seemed to be the best thing to get. I am on blood thinners so my bleeding is way heavier then normal which is why the IUD was inserted. I have had cramps since the 12th so bad i couldn't sleep and the pain meds they have given me aren't working. I normally don't have bad cramping but a mix of the Mirena and the blood thinner seemed to make my cramps want to pull my hair out. I had to stop working because of the pain. My Gyno said i would have cramping for the first few months!!! so i assumed this was normal. WRONG yesterday the 27th of Jan 2011 i woke up and had crazy pain,hunched over pain and took 3 advils after 3 hours they didn't kick in at all. I went to the ER screaming and crying and was in so much pain they had to hold me down to give me a shot of morphine. so after i was a bit calmer they checked to see if the strings were there...nope couldn't see it did ultrasound couldn't find it. did xrays and nothing. so apparently my mirena fell out a few days ago and open my cervix which is why the cramps are so bad and i keep passing painful clots. So the Mirena sucks!!!!!! Now i am in pain and have to wait till my cervix closes to have some sort of relief from this horrid pain....
 
I had an IUD placed after the birth of my third child. All was good for 13 months, then I missed my period. Didn't think much of it since that's common, but started having a nagging feeling I was pregnant. Took a pregnancy test and it came back POSITIVE! Went to the Dr. that same day, where they did and ultrasound to look for the IUD and to make sure the pregnancy was not in my tubes. She ultrasound tech looked and looked and looked, and saw NO IUD! The baby was fine, but where the heck was my IUD!? The Dr. said it most likely feel out with a heavy period. I had no unusual pain or anything that I can remember. Currently pregnancy with our surprise baby #4!
 
i had my mirena IUD inserted about 5 months after i had my one and only child. I was very happy with my IUD. After the IUD I had very very light periods but they werent on a schedule but my period was so light it wasnt a problem...after 2 years of having my IUD i began to bleed heavy...for 13 days!!! plus i noticed a smell? so i checked my strings and they felt lower then usual so i went to my dr and she said the IUD was perfectly fine and the bleeding was prolly due to stress (and that it was old blood, hence the smell, blah) and that it isnt abnormal to all of a sudden have a heavy longer period once in a while, she gave me a prescription for the bleeding and i left thinking everyting was fine. 2 weeks later i started bleeding again and felt the strings and they were even lower and the smell was still there?? so i began to feel the strings and make sure they still went all the way up and into my cervix, i felt a light quick ouch and when i looked down my IUD was coming out!!! so of course i freaked out and called the dr and made an appt. and she called me in a prescription for what she called the "plan B" pill because i had had intercourse before the IUD came out. that was just a few days ago and since then ive stopped bleeding, i feel fine, and the smell is gone, yay! i think my body was trying to get the IUD out of my body, i just wonder why after 2 years?
 
i have had my mirena for about 2 years. i have never checked it until today.i didnt feel anything. for the last 2 weeks ive been having pregnancy symptoms could it be possible that it fell out and i didnt notice? im so scared i cant have a baby right. i have no insurance so im going to planned parenthood tomrrow. i hope thay can help. please let me know if u have any advice. thanks

wow so seems like this is a common issue w the IUD I have had mine for just about a week and seems like my srings are getting lomger as well and I feel like the dame thing is tring to come out like if I strain to had to go pee it will come out. So like everyone else I better call my doctor too and be sure that mine isnt falling out. Dont get me wrong I love the convenence of not having to use a different method I do like the IUD however when it feels like its bout to fall out I hate it well good luck to everyone.
 
So i just got out of the shower after feeling the string to my IUD. well i noticed that i could barely feel it so i gave a light gental tug and it just came right out. i was so shocked. i have been one the iud for 2 1/2 years with no problem i may have got my period like 3 times maybe but it was very light. how should i go about dealing with this situation?
 
I had mine to fall out Sept. of this past year, I had some bleeding and pain. When I called my dr. they told me unless I was bleeding very heavy that there was nothing they could really do for me. Now I am pregant, and this happened right after it came out. So, if it did fall out, unless you want a baby, then use all kinds of protection, cause you can get pregant very easily!
 
Im in the same boat.. I had mine done 2 days ago and i could really feel the strings.. and Im still bleeding. Not sure if its slipped out for going too or even if i need to get the strings cut shorter but I will be seeing the doc asap. I just had baby #2 and not planning for another.. I havent seen my husband in 1 month and hes ready for some luv makin so i gotta address this ASAP. And anyone who can feel their strings or fear its fallen out.. see your doc ASAP. You may just need to get your strings snipped or it may be something more serious.
 
Yes, i have just discovered mine this morning. It's been in for about 10 days and last night i felt some pain ...a little more than ordinary and this morning, there it was.... it has popped out.... going to see my doctor today.
 
I had my Mirena placed in March 2011. I had never felt the strings, but in October 2011 while taking a shower I felt them. I went to see my doctor and she said the Mirena was coming out, but she was able to push it back into place. I got an ultrasound and everything looked ok. But I kept getting a regular 3 to 4 day period, which was not the case before October (I just spotted very lightly for a day or two). Yesterday (March 11, 2012), I went to wipe myself after peeing and I felt the strings right outside. So I gave it a gentle tug and out came my Mirena. Now I'm bleeding with alot of clots. Hopefully it will stop soon, but I will definately try out the pill because I do not want to worry about that thing coming out all the tiem.
 
confused...i had the coil fitted in november, i never went for my 6 weeks check up but i have also never felt my strings? i have been trying to feel for them and jus have no luck. im thinking it has moved as i keep getting cramps right at the bottom of my belly
 
I Just Had Mirena Inserted This Monday...And They Said That I Was Not Big Enough For It..So My Body Might Reject It And Push It Out..But I Was Wondering If It Hurts When It Falls Out..And How Can I Tell....
 
Im very concerned.. I have had the mirena IUD in place for about 2 months.. Then earlier today I was changing my tampon an had the mirena come out with it.. My doc office is closed, an wont be able to get a hold of anyone to ask about it until Monday.. Im not having an cramping or bleeding so far since it has come out... Just very concerned since it fell out out of no where.. I dont know if I should call up to the hospital in the morning or just wait and get a hold of my doc Monday. Since I had it put in, Ive had nothing but problems.. Id cramp non-stop, an I was spotting for 2 weeks had a 2 day break and started spotting again. Before I had mirena placed I never cramped at all unless it was a horribly heavy period which was barely ever.. I have also experience a lot of dizziness and lightheadedness since I had it put in.. I will just be walking and all of a sudden get light headed, and my vision will start gettin black and fuzzy.. I never noticed any of that until after my mirena was placed, and now I'm just worried, an not sure what to do.. If anyone has an opinion about all this it would be greatly appreciated!
 
THE MIRENA IS SOMETHING ELSE .. HAD GOT AN ABORTION .. PLACED THE MIRENA .. GOT PREGNANT ON THE DAMN MIRENA.. HAD ANOTHER ABORTION GOT THE MIRENA AGAIN . NOW IT FEELS LIKE ITS COMING OUT.. WTH
