Has there ever been a subject more argued than religion?

I hear now that there are more religious folks converting to atheist than vice versa Would any of you understand why that would be? It seems many religious folks would stake there lives that the bible and god are true. Not so sure it would be the same for athiest. Which may show that religious folks have a much stronger belief about god and the bible than atheist do about the bible and god not being true
