Today, I went to the my family doctor for a routine physical so I may play sports. When listening to my neck with his stethoscope he heard a bruit in my carotid artery. I am scheduled for a cardiovascular ultrasound in a few days to confirm his finding. What should I expect will happen? (I've done some research but would like to learn more)

You'll lay on a table while a tech presses on your neck with a probe. No pain at all.

Carotid bruits are usually caused by narrowing in the carotid arteries. The presence on a bruit really doesn't say that the narrowing is severe.
