Yes. Like Christians who say that God is love and then turn around and say, Capital Punishment! What? That goes against your own Bible - Judgment is MINE says the Lord. How about ALL gays are going to hell! Uh...why don't you deal with the log in your own eye before you pick out the dust in your sister's eye? Good grief. So much ignorance. You deal with stupidity it in your community. I deal with it in mine. We are long suffering.
Yep. Seems like every year around this time, Christians who have no idea about the historical palaeography of their own religion start objecting to "Xmas", even though it's a Christian abbreviation and one of many (some dating back to the beginnings of the Christian church) in which the Greek letter Chi ('X') stands for "Christ".
Ty for the question.... yes I have.
I actually had a work colleague ask me what the beliefs of one church were as she had sent her kids there and was now curious about the religious education they may give!?!?!
A lot of people have no idea why they are a certain religion or what it means... they just "are" and have "always been that".
I have learnt that the more subtle you are, the more effective you are..... ask them a question that gets them thinking.
It is great to learn about several religions, that way you know if you are on track. God Bless
I know what you mean. I've educated adamant atheists on "selective relativism", on how serious scientists do not equate correlation to cause, basic scientific method, and other things. And yeah, it is kind of sad.
I have fundamental christians constantly telling me what catholics believe. They don't know anything.
I don't educate people about their own religion. But I like talking about the false beliefs that other people have about my religion and then laughing at their ignorance.
Which I guess is equally as sad
Numerous times, although, I've learnt that facts about the history of a certain religion (and the elements within it) do not necessarily match up with the subscribed doctrine of the time, and thus, falls on dead ears if it goes against the current beliefs.
Yes.
Every Saturday when they come knocking on my door.
I actually let them in.
I have a 'special' Bible just for them. All the verses they changed are highlighted.
It's a fun time.
For some reason, they keep coming back for more.
But its what I do. I don't mind, but I am surprised at what some people think. I also find it a shame that it is their pastors teaching them most of this when all they have to do is pick a book and read for themselves.
