Having problems with 1997 Jeep Wranger Spark Plug & Wire?

I recently purchased a 1997 Jeep Wrangler and driving home the check engine light came on. The seller advised that the only problem he had was that the #2 Spark Plug Wire was bad. I had the jeep checked out at two auto parts stores, both advised that the #2 Spark Plug and Wire were bad. I had Midas replace all spark plugs and wires. Now 4 weeks later the check engine light it back on and I'm guessing this is the same problem. Any idea what causes a spark plug and wire to go bad? No other problems with the jeep. No leaks. Engine runs great.
