HDMI cable , Computer, and Motorola XT860 smatphone. Why wont it work?

It says you can connect your Motorola XT860 smartphone to a computer, to share and download your music, with the HDMI caable that comes with the phone. I have tried connecting and reconnecting the HDMI cable to both the computer and my cell phone and nothing happens. Its like the computer doesnt even acknowledge that i plugged somethhing into it.. Nothing pops up or anything. Does any one else have this same problem and does anyone know how to fix it?? thanks in advance :)

The HDMI cable is only for audio/video output. You need to connect the phone to your computer using a USB cable, not HDMI. HDMI is for HD audio/video.
