tell me what you think.? Chapter 1

“Damn it, I told you to stop!” shouted Malacchi from above me. I continued to lie there with both my hearing and my vision fuzzy. I couldn’t remember what had happened. How did I end up on the ground, and where was I? Slowly, I sat up and looked around me. It slowly began to come back I had just found out that my mother was not dead, as I had thought for fifteen years. In fact, it was impossible for her to die, because she is an immortal. You see, I had just found out that my mother is Minerva. Yes, the Roman goddess of wisdom, arts, and trade. I had just been running for my life from a servant of the god Pluto This particular monster happened to be an Amphithere, which if you didn’t know, is a legless winged serpent. It was 12 foot long and had a wingspan of about 7 feet. You might have stayed and tried to fight it, but my mom was the goddess of wisdom, so I did the wise thing: I ran. Malacchi stayed behind to fight it off. Oh yeah, I haven’t told you about Malacchi yet. He is the one who told me who I was, and also happens to be the son of Bellona, goddess of war. He managed to defeat the monster and catch up with me at about the time I tripped over a hot dog stand and knocked myself out.
“Joshua! Why in the hell didn’t you stop? I mean, I had to run after you for thirteen blocks, and the next thing I know you’re sprawled out on the ground like I don’t know what. Are you okay?”
“Yes Chi, I’m fine. I just passed out for a couple o-“
“I’m aware of what you did! Next time would you stop when I call your name? The last thing the gods need is you dead.”
“Apparently at least one of the gods doesn’t care for me to stay alive.”
“Yeah, well the rest of them need you.”
“What do you mean?” I asked. I was thinking, what could a god possibly need me for? I’m just a mortal.
“Nevermind. I’ll let mom explain that to you when we get there.”
“You keep saying when we get ‘there’. Where is there? I’ve asked you this like a thousand times, and you have yet to answer me.”
“I can’t tell you Joshua. You know that. I’m sorry. All I can say is that all the gods and goddesses will be there. It is there meeting place.”
“We’re going to Rome?”
“Yeah”
“And you expect us to get there when?”
“About four hours from now.”
“Four hours? Are you insane? There is no way we can get from Central Arkansas to Rome in four hours! I mean, a plane would take like sixteen, and a ship would take like twice that!”
“You’re still stuck on mortal transportation. We will use the the transportation for immortals, and demigods.”
“Demigods?”
“People with one mortal parent and one immortal parent. It was originally a greek term, but we adopted it in later years.”
“Malacchi, why does Pluto want me dead?”
“You’ll have to ask Minerva, I am forbidden to tell you.”
Suddenly, Malacchi stopped at the Little Rock bus stop. He threw his hand into the air and moved it in a weird signal. Next thing I know, a yellow bus pulled up to the stop so fast, you didn’t see it coming. It literally appeared out of thin air. A woman about thirty years old stepped out and looked me and Malacchi over with an odd expression on her face. She had short black hair, and a light complexion. She reminded me of someone who was beautiful once, but stress had made her age prematurely.
“Demigods huh? I’ll go ahead and tell you I won’t have any trouble, or rough housing on my bus. If you want to challenge someone to a fight, you will wait until your somewhere else. Am I understood?”
All me and Malacchi could do was nod.
“Alright get on. Where am I taking you to anyways?”
“Headquarter.” Malacchi said, giving her a look that clearly meant I wasn’t to know any more than that.
“Okay, go take a seat. We’ll be there shortly.”
