I need some help with choosing my first 600cc bike at the moment i ride a skygo 125cc (yes chinese lol) but i turn 18 in a couple of weeks and am looking to buy my first big bike. iv had a look at the cbr 600 but not to keen on the shape to be honest and dont really like the shape of the r6 so im looking at the kawasaki ninja / suzuki gsxr 600 and 750. any ideas would really help insurance would play a big part for me to so i need the cheapest really and what price would i be looking at ? if anyone has any other bikes to suggest i would apreciate that aswell ?

From an insurance cost analysis point of view there isn't one.... in order to get a good deal on insurance the best bike is not the most popular one. Bottom line.

If you want to pay much much less for insurance you may have to get used to, and start to like a different design of bike altogether. (i.e.: dual purpose, cruiser(very cheap), or standard style ( think nighthawk or old gs suzuki or yamaha xs line) There's absolutely nothing expensive about the Honda Shadow line or the Yamaha V-Star line)

Hey,... if you simply have to get a sportbike, its gonna cost you.

I'm 24 and my 1624cc Victory Kingpin costs 1/4 to insure annually what my 636cc zx6r did. There is no such thing as a cheap to insure sport bike. They simply don't exist. There are too many young male jackasses out there who have probably permanently screwed it up for everyone with the insurance companies. If you are hell bent on getting a sport bike, take your bike payment, double it, then add $100, and thats about what youll be spending per month total, (bike +insurance). The fact of the matter is sport bikes are great toys, but they are TOYS. When I finally get out of school I plan on buying one again when I can actually afford it, but it sure as hell wont replace my Victory, itl just be another stallion in the stable. If monthly costs are making your decision on what bike to get, then find a different style of bike. I recommend Victory Motorcycles, they truly are one of a kind performance cruisers and are relatively cheap used and cheap to insure. Take a test ride and see if they change your mind. They did for me.
