High school journalism class, what are possible topics for an interesting article?

high rates of teenage pregnancy's, STI'S STD'S, sexually transmitted diseases when you have unprotected sex i.e hepatitis, chlamydia, HIV,AIDS ETC.
politics - damage to the economy because of the recession- millions of people out of job's
celebrity gossip .
 
How many different ways is the name Kailey spelled in your school. And do the students like the way theirs is spelled. Not making fun here I'm serious. Or you can use some other name if you like. Yours just brought it to mind, I've seen it spelled lot's of different ways.
Interview sports star.
spelling bee winner, etc.
New faculty member story.
Review CD, DVD, concert, new television season.
 
How about the television infomercials that ask you to send money for helping children in foreign countries but never anything for helping the millions of children in America that go hungry every day.

How about celebrities who think they are Gods and can act any way they want (like Kanye)

How about the declining ability for the youth of America to read and write correctly because of using "shorthand" to speak to others (i.e lol and wtg)

How about the cutting of funds to public schools for Art, Music, Theater while sport teams Football, Basketball still get full funding.

How about the underpayment of teachers in the public school system.

How about the rise of teenage car accidents because of texting while driving.

How about prodigy children.

How about the way obese people are still seen as inferior human beings.

Teenage fathers.

Preteen fathers and mothers.

Interview the elderly (over 70) who can tell you about the way they had to live during the wall street crash of 1929 and how they got thru it.

How about the new Lava Planet that was just discovered.

i think drugs is a pretty serious topic. idk where your from but im from south orange county, san clemente, south of laguna beach or "where ryan sheckler lives" and theres a lot more drug activity then people really take note for

anything that bothers you at school and you think that others have noticed too. i loved journalism in high school.
