Hollywood Buddism vs. Buddism?

Some Hollywood stars claim to be Buddist, but is it just part of a fad or do they actually paractice Buddism the same way it is practiced in Asia..

IMO The Modern Day American Buudist is nothing more than a tree-hugging hippy.

But in Asia Buddists are so different and actually have differnt beliefs than the American Buddist.
Nothing really.

It just alot of "Buddist" I know act self-ritous whne theey are nothing more than tree-hugging Hippes and not actually Buddist.

I know the Concept of Karma and Dharma. But I am not going to call myself a Buddist.

I took a comparitive Religion Course so thats the basis of my Arguement.

is the "Richard Gere" Buddist the Same kind of Buddist as the Monk in Tibet,
 
I think Hollywood Buddhism is more like influenced pantheism, with no specific hardline practices. Actually, I don't really know.

Nothing's wrong with hugging trees.
 
You really don't know much about buddhists, do you? Hollywood buddhists are very much the same as the normal buddhists.

The average buddhists actually look upto people like Richard Gere, hoping that he would save Tibet from the clutches of China. His work is greatly appreciated.
