Hey,

I browsed yahoo answers when I saw SRS light on my 2001 Honda Civic. Got ton of clues about the whole airbag SRS system, DTC, warranty coverage, dealer vs monNpop.

The SRS light came on and stayed even while driving and thats not a good sign. Was not sure to take it to the Honda dealer because of their expensive bills. But then I read about it as a common problem of Hondas. Googled a bit and found Honda Service Bulletin 02-034

Got a little anxious about knowing the SRS code before resetting it myself. Took it to dealer. He said $115 just to get me the code and if it is under warranty then get it fixed FREE.

Took the chance. The DTC code came as 04-01 DEFECTIVE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLE.
Guess what...this too was covered under warranty and got it fixed FREE.

Thought of sharing with all the ppl worried about their SRS light. So the advice is if you happen to get SRS light, get smart, explore a little and make the smart move. Its not a good idea to drive on SRS light for long.
There is a very good article on resetting the SRS light at home if you are sure why its ON in the first place.
Firestone was ready to check the DTC code for $99 but not sure if they can execute the warrantee like dealers.

Cheers!
