How accurate was Hollywood in their depiction of the Tennessee mountain folk & their

way of life? Yes I know the Beverley Hillbillies was and farce but could there really have been people up in the most inexpiable parts of those mountains who lived the way the Clampett family did before?Not now but back in the early 20th.century.
I don't know if this is the right section to put this question in but it's as good as the others I was offered.
I don't mean to insult anyone Hope nobody took my question the wrong way?
 
I have lived in Tennessee my whole life and it's not insulting in anyway. There are very few parts of the state that are on any kind of early 20th century living conditions-some isolated spots still exist that have no cell phone coverage.
Kidding aside, no one really takes any of what Hollywood pumps out as a depiction of reality.

Just remember this: Hollywood is selling a dream and an idea. Their goal is to make the world seem more interesting than it is. Hollywood almost NEVER is accurate in depiction of real life. Heck, when making a movie out of a novel, Hollywood almost NEVER puts the actual story of the novel on the screen. The rewrite it so it's "more exciting". In other words, they think they can write a story better than the original author can.

Read Tom Clancy's book, "Clear and Present Danger". then see the movie. The entire last half of the book is missing and replaced with a mano-a-mano confrontation between Jack Ryan and the villain. Almost any of Disney's animated features have nothing to do with the original written story.

I've lived near the mountains of Tennessee and the Ozarks and have k now hill folk. They are generally simple people without formal education, but they are just like the people who live right across the street from you. Now I live near where the book "The Egg and I" was written, and I've never seen anyone like Ma and Pa Kettle.
