...suits them with a straight face? Here's an incomplete list of things that the Bible absolutely does not mention: Islam, Barack Obama, Stanley Cup finals, Chia Pets, Britney Spears, computers, electric toothbrushes, nuclear bombs, the Moon landing, Diet Pepsi and Family Guy.

Why?
To most rationalists, the answer is very obvious.
None of these things existed at the time of writing.

But others claim that the writers did know of at least some of these things and reveal them to us. However, none of them are explicitly mentioned.

Of course not, they say: How could the writers have known of these things?

So.

A) You assume that the knowledge of the authors is divine in nature and that therefore, they had knowledge of special things.
B) However, the fact that they do not explicitly describe or name these things is being excused by the fact that these authors are human, and therefore were not capable of explicitly naming such things, of which they had no knowledge.

How convenient...

Seriously, why would God inspire a book consisting of ethical systems and morality tales when he could write about Chia pets and Diet Pepsi?

The Bible is not Marty McFly's Sport's Almanac. It's a book about examples and teachings of how an individual should live. It has some prophesies at the end but it's up to you to decide if they're just a bunch of ancient JudeoChristian non-sense, or whether there's something to them.

Christianity does not believe that prophets are given 24/7 access to the omniscient mind of God (although that would be awesome), but instead are mostly given morals and teaching, and sometimes some prophecies from the Almighty.

I hope my answer at least let's you know where other people are coming from. Since you're probably from the USA, you know that we don't have to agree or even get along on religious matters. But if you learn something new every day about a culture different from your own (and why they believe the crazy things they do), then you'll be a cultural asset to your town and your nation, because very few people are really trying to understand each other. Nearly everyone just wants to convince everyone else they're idiots.

The writer even forget to explain why snakes eat rats & frogs, even after jesus doomed it to eat only sand till its extinction.

Bravo!!!!!(for ur question)

In the context of the greater world outside their own geographical area and the customs/technologies that were to come, the authors of the bible had no idea. It would be extremely interesting to see one of these believers that say the bible foretold everything show us precisely WHERE in the bible (OT or NT) that the America's Cup was predicted. It would take one of those great stretches that people use to show that the prophecies of Nostradamus were true. Be fun to watch them try it, though!
Blessings on your Journey!

If the Bible mentioned things like that, people during that time would have absolutely NO idea of what they (the writers) were talking about

Obiously the priority of the Alimighty if He existed MUST be to tell us about Chia Pets (TM) thousands of years before they were invented but since He doesn't, then we must have evolved from Primordial Soup (TM) billions of years after nothing for no reason suddenly became everything.

Makes perfect sense.
