How can i get my driver's permit in California?

so i'm 15 and a half...what now?
i'm kinda clueless about these things & i went on the DMV website which further confused me.
How can i get my permit? do i take driving classes first? or study the book?
what are the steps to getting a permit then getting my license?


please help, lol D:
 
okaay do this:
1. take drivers ed, (driverseddirect.com) do the online course
2. when your finished with that, go to the DMV & take the written test
3. after you pass the test, take behind the wheel courses with a driving school
4. once you complete that and have your permit for 6 months you can take your test to get your license.
