I love rpgs, been playing them since i was a kid, but the recent ones have been nothing but garbage. only thing that hasnt gone backwards when it comes to quality, is the graphics, which sadly makes all the kids today think that games now are more 'advanced' than they used to be, sad.
The game i'm referring to specifically is elder scrolls oblivion. the only time i enjoyed the game, was when i played the tutorial for the first time. after that, it was just a non-stop struggle to survive. i've probably gone through that damned tutorial more than 100 times by this point trying to design a character that could survive past level 5. i think the furthest i ever got was lvl 15, and that was with effecient leveling. actually i think i got a character past level 20 once, but that was accomplished by avoiding combat at all costs, once i got to a point where combat was unavoidable, i simply couldnt play anymore due to my combat skills being atrociously low.
the main problem with the game is the fact that it actually gets more difficult at an exponential rate as you level. when you first start, you can pretty much take just about anything on, but as you level most everything in the game either levels with you (and in the process apparently gets more attribute and skill increases every level than the player character ever could) or is replaced with a stronger creature, when you get around lvl 10 btw, you start to encounter creatures that are invulnerable to most weapons, can heal themselves instantly, or of course the famous trolls who are superior to you in everyway, their only disadvantage being a weakness to fire, which is negated by their absurdly fast regeneration. which is why its impossible to progress very far, even lowering the difficulty supposedly wont help you forever. once you reach the maximum level everything will be like the creatures have god mode turned on (aka, they're invulnerable and can kill you with one hit), even if the difficulty is set as far down as it will go.
and besides that, i hate the setting. its lame and unimaginative, and besides that the game is clearly racist and white supremist. humans in the game are actually divided into four different species, called imperials (similar to americans and british), bretons (based off of the french), nords (neo-naxi aryans, simply) and redguards (blacks who are highly superstitious, and outright idiotic, one black you meet early on is a royal guard, and the king of course dies under his watch, and later he hatches a plan that if you follow, will result in both of you getting slaughtered). it just sickens me.
but sadly, i simply cant afford to buy any other games, so either i learn to enjoy the ones i have, or i simply stop playing games, and waste the rest of my life just sitting here staring at the wall.
can anyone help me?
