how can i obtain part of a gun handle from a guns buy back for cash program?

was wanting to obtain a gun handle stock after they destroy guns in the buy back programs, non functional of course, the barrel can be cut off, was going to make a manual transmission shifter handle from one, they are too expensive to buy a good one just to remove the handle. any ideas?
