How can I pretend that my cellphone is broken?

My parents want to confiscate my cellphone and I really need my cellphone because I'm helping this girl(my girlfriend's best friend) who is abused and I told her if her situation gets worse she can call me from my cellphone. She can't call from my home phone because if I'm not home and someone else picks up then they can't handle the situation.

I need help with how to pretend the cellphone is broken,but I wanna know what problem I can make up to pretend my cellphone is broken. Can it be a broken screen or what?

Its better to notify the police but its up to you ( just take off the battery and give it to your parents then u can attach your charger and it should work)
