How can I put DIVX movies on my PS3 successfully?

I downloaded the DIVX player and when I try to use DIVX to go to transfer movies on to my external hard drive, it just says analyzing and never advances from that. Once I do that DIVX to go freezes up completely and I need to open task manager in order to close it. I tried this on multiple computers so I know the computer is not the problem... What can I do?
 
Hi,

I recently purchase DIV-X and I just copied the movie file (DIVX,AVI) onto a memory stick/flash drive, then plugged the drive into my PS3 and copied it onto the PS3. I was then able to remove the drive and I watched the film later from my PS3
