How can i stop the ps3 delaying on my DVD- Recorder?

I am recording my ps3 on my dvd recorder, and there is a incredibly small, but noticable delay that does make my gaming performance drop to, noob! anyway the delay is probably 10 milisecs at most and is really irritating, for when im doing search and destroy on mw2, because i cant react fast enough for that one knife, and usually can >.<

any suggestions on the delay problem?
