How can i write DVD ?

For DVD write ,i used Nero and make data disk (burn and make image ) ,but did not write into DVD.What can i do ?

When I make a data DVD, I just go 'My Computer' then click on the drive I have my DVD in and drag files on to the open window. It Takes a minute or so for the computer to do what it has to do to make the DVD re readable, then burns the files to it. When i am done I will go to' my computer', left click on drive and format the DVD
