How can you get noticed to play professional soccer?

I like soccer very much and I'd like to see it as something I do in my future. So please tell me what I have to do in order to get there. I heard joining the soccer academy's of professional teams is a good idea but I don't know please answer.

Play it through high school and college and excel in them. You will definitely get noticed if you do that.
