how can you use a different remote for a Comcast Digital Transport Adapter?

we had to buy digital transport adapters for all out tv's and the remote it comes with is so stupid it has like 10 buttons...and it sucks. i refuse to use it. I called , it's made by Pace code that worked for me was 01982, for my Insignia LCD, though i would imagine your remote needs to be SetTopBox or Cable Box programmable. Other Pace codes in my book were, 01877 00877 00237 00008
