I'm using an HP Laptop, it worked just fine about a week ago and I just previously was forced to restore it to factory image so I already lost everything and now it won't read any discs at all. I had no devices or anything inside during the recovery, I did all the steps just fine like the last time I did it. I place in a disc it makes some reading noise then something happens and it stops trying to read it and says there is no disc in the drive. My DVD E drive is showing so it's not like it's not there and when I check it, it says the device is working properly. The driver still has electricity moving through it and the light to show something was put in comes on but it just won't read the disc inside and claims that isn't one.
Yes I have tried other discs, CDs, DVDs and installation discs for other things and none of them have worked at all.
