How come my download speed slows when I use torrents?

Your download speeds are limited by the upload speeds of the places you're downloading from.

You could have a million mpbs, but if the place you're downloading from can only upload at 1mbps, then that's what you're gonna get.
 
I'm downloading two PSP games at about 1.5GB each while trying to watch HD videos on Youtube and downloading music at the same time. Why does the speed slow down? I thought our plan said we have 20mbps speeds but now I'm barely getting 1mbps.

Why is this!?
What I mean is why does the speed slow down when I do everything at the same time?
