how did california get so populated, and how did hollywood appear there?

i mean its ineteresting that most western states are underpopulated but then u get to CA and it leads the U.S. so what other than the gold rush sparked the populaton,

Many moved to California for better weather, relax life style and opportunity, here many jobs make almost double than national average.

It is a Pioneer , creative state, and most tolerated to other people no matter color, religion, sex ...that is why 45% Californian don't speak English at home.
