How did "google map" take the pictures of my car in my driveway?

Do they drive around and take pictures and upload it or is it by satellite or what? cause this is amazing!
I typed my address and dragged the "little person logo" to my address & am able to see my car in my drive way as if I was standing behind my car. This is totally amazing! How did they do this? I can almost see my plate number!

It is a car that drives around with a pole and a 360 degree camera. sometimes if you look down you can see a shadow of the car and the pole.

they drove a car around with a camera on top of a big pole attached to the car which took pictures as they drove around.

i definitely know they did this with uk and channel islands

Satellite imagery.
Unless you are talking about Street View, in which case Google has a fleet of vehicles that drive around taking 360-degree photos.

what the do is go round to different places with cars mounted with camera's (see sources) and take pictures of lots of places starting with major place (like the capital cities) down to the unpopular places they manage this because of the extreamly large amount of cars they use I one saw them on the tv or online (cant remember) and they had a whole warehouse full
