My computer is running pretty slow...I don't think it has any malware or viruses because I have protection from them. I would like to clean out some stuff on my Sony vaio that came default with the computer... but I don't know what programs it has to have to run stuff and what is extras can anyone give me a list of them and tell me where I can delete/uninstall them ?Sometimes my sound on my computer doesn't work like it is the speakers but then again they most of the time start working again after I shut down and reboot ...?? just thought I would add that in in-case someone knew why. I had this program DivX on my computer but I thought it was causing me to get malware so I uninstall it but some of it's stuff is on my computer still and vista ....(being how vista is) wants to run everything...can I manually uninstall some how? What are some things I can do to make my computer run a little better?
I don't remember how much memory etc. I have where can I find it?

As far as making your computer run better, I'd definitely start by running a virus scan. If you do not have an Internet Security package of some type, I'd definitely get one - I recommend McAfee, personally.

After running your virus scan, go to the folder called System Tools (under your Accessories folder) and run your Disc Defragmenter and Disc Cleanup - if you haven't done these before, the may take awhile, but it'll be worth it. :)

As far as uninstalling DivX, you'll need to go to the Control Panel. Click on the Icon that says Add/Remove Programs and find DivX in the list that comes up. Click on it and it will give you the option at the top of the page to uninstall it. Follow the steps from there and it should uninstall it for you.

Also, if your computer is running slow, I recommend downloading Spybot Search & Destroy to get rid of any spybots that may be on your computer. You can download it here: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html Just click on the Download banner on the left side of the screen. :)

I hope that helps you out! :)
