how do I convert a avi file to a DVD file on Mac OSX?

i am new to mac and i have some movies which are avi and i want to burn them to disc, but i need to convert them to a DVD file first. i have ffmpegX but i don't really understand how to use it. could someone either say an alternative converter (for mac) or how to use THAT one? cheers
