How do I equip weapons in Kingdom Hearts for PS2?

I have purchased weapons and shields, but when I go to see my items or to equip, they aren't there. How do I equip or can I not (is it only for Donald and Goofy?!)?

I am so frustrated!! An answer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)
 
Yeah the shields are Goofy's weapons and the staff's are donald's

The other things you can buy are accessories that can be equipped on any character

You can't buy Sora's weapons you gain them as you play through the story

Press "Triangle" and go to equip and then choose the character who's equipment you want to change
 
hit the start button and go to Goofy. (we'll use him for an example). you'll see his current sheild i think. click on it and then you'll see a list of the other shields you have. click on one of those and it exchanges them. same for the excessories, like armor and keychains and stuff. (i cant remember how to spell that lol) You can go to youtube and find a playthrough if you can't figure it out.
