How do i file share with my desktop in my room and the desktop in the basement?

I just got a linksys wireless network adapter and i cant figure out how to file share with the basement desktop. The basement desktop has a router and modem and the desktop in my room has the adapter. In my room i am connected to our houses wireless network but it says that i am not connected to the local area connection.
