How do I fix the worn off paint on my car? Picture included!?

I was washing my car the other day and the bird crap won't come off. I made the mistake of using the rough side of the sponge to get it off but the paint come off along with it.

This is what it looks like now:

Is it fixable with rubbing compound or completely repaint at the shop?
