Last year, my sister's Vista Ultimate installation went bust - the login screen crashed. She went on a long trip, and left the computer to me while she's away. I went ahead and installed the Windows 7 Ultimate Release Candidate, as an easy fix, and to experience the new OS.
Now the Release Candidate is expiring, and I want to go back to Vista Ultimate. The problem is - there's no disc. Either it never came with the disc (It's a Dell), or it got lost somewhere along the way. I've tried the Recovery Disc, but there was no joy there. The recovery partition didn't work either. I have the original CD key, so I shouldn't have to pay for a new copy of the OS, right?
If all else fails, I've got my trusty Ubuntu 9.10 CD lying around. I've also wanted to try out my Scientific Linux 5.1, but didn't have a reason before.
