How do I get rid of my fear of PDA?

So I'm extremely anti-PDA and my boyfriend is the opposite. We've been dating for eighteen months and it's just getting worse. I feel extremely awkward even hugging him in public. We just got into a fight about it earlier and he told me that we're not going to make it if I don't step it up....so how do I rid of my fear of PDA?
