How do I introduce myself to this guy without looking stupid?

At college, I keep seeing this really good looking guy.
I know it sounds creepy, but when I see him, I find myself staring at him... I just can't help it.
When he sees me looking at him, he smiles.
I've pointed him out to my friends ( hoping that one of them would know who he is, so they could introduce me to him) but none of them know him.
I'm not one for just sitting back, I want to introduce myself this guy, but I'm really not sure how.
Every time I see him, he seems to be in a rush, he's walking really fast, so I can't exactly run up to him...
The only chance I really have, is that he's sometimes in the cafeteria when I am & he sometimes gets on the same bus as me...
Any ideas?

Sit by him on the bus telling him you have no where else to sit.
Sit with him at the cafeteria saying that you say him & that's the only person that you haven't got to know
Or just ask him for a piece of paper,pencil,pen, eraser, some notes or say you need some help cause you don't understand what the professor is teaching :)
 
when he is walking fast again, don't worry you will get there! then in the cafeteria say, did you make it to where you was speed walking to...and he will smile and explain and there...a conversation...then say im sorry, my name is __________ then at the end of that say, the next time u speed walk pass me dont forget to say hey!
 
Do you have any classes with him? If you do sit by him and borrow a pen
