We live in an apartment below my in-laws & currently they have a DSL modem wired to a Link-Sys wireless router upstairs, which is wired to our Netgear wireless router downstairs to share internet. Their router is set up on IP 192.168.1.1, our router is set up on 10.0.0.1. In Ipconfig, our IPv4 address is set to 10.0.0.2. I want to open the ports for Xbox Live to get better connection, which I can do easily enough on our router since the computer, router, & xbox all use the same IP network; but the in-law's router being set to a different IP doesn't give me the option to open ports for 10.0.0.x IP addresses, only 192.168.1.x IP addresses. If I were to change their routers IP address to say 10.0.0.11 so that it runs on the same network as ours, I lose access to the router & it doesn't seem to fix anything, only make us lose internet. Changing it to the 10.0.0.x network should allow me to still access it I would think....I don't know how to fix this problem so that I can open ports on their router for my Xbox (if there's even a way)....Someone please help!!!!!!
