How do I remain a Christian even though some of my personal beliefs are...

...different from whats being taught ? Since Ive learned more about my faith, and other faiths its become hard for me to be a Christian. Mainly because there are things that I believe in that contradict the bible and whats being taught in church. For instance, I believe in gay marriage (im straight though) and gay rights, I believe that all humble people go to heaven not just Christians.

Since learning that the bible goes against such things, Ive pretty much stayed away from Church. Not because Im upset with God but because I simply hate to hear preachers adress these topics. Im more into the inspirational side of the church not the condeming side.

And please dont nobody try to convince of whats right and wrong, I already know what the bible says. But I dont agree with it. Jesus is the only thing the holds me to Christianity because I believe in Jesus.

So is it even possible for me to remain a Christian even though I dont agree with Christian teachings concerning homosexuality and the afterlife of nonbelievers ?
Whats a good denomination of Christianity where I can attend church ? Is there any that doesnt address those topics
Simon:
Maybe Im not a Christian. But if I believe in Jesus but disagree with certain Christian beliefs, then where does that leave me ?

"There is no middle ground here!"

Harsh much lol. x)

All you have to do is believe in Jesus. The Bible is laden with so many contradictions anyway it's not a reliable source of morals. It's up to you to come up with your own morals that you will follow for the rest of your life.

Being a Christian has nothing to do with going to church, religion is just something you use to identify yourself. If you feel strongly about your religion but disagree with members of your congregation, then study with someone who thinks like you or on your own. Also, do some religion shopping, maybe there is one that fits you better.

If you believe in Christ then I'd say your christian, I believe in christ but believe that their isn't a church that has it completely right. Many church organizations to me seem much influenced by rules of man based from what they think is right by god. I believe god's "religion" is love and its that simple, it seems man has tried to complicate this by making several rules, processes, and exceptions so to speak.
church is good to go to and its good to have fellowship with others, but in my mind church is one hour a week, isn't what happens the other 167 hours just as important if not more to be out and about loving others.

You say you believe in Jesus, yet you reject His Word? What you are doing is setting yourself above Christ, saying you know better than He does. I would suggest you spend some time praying about this. Maybe you also need to look into why the Bible teaches against such things and understand why they hurt God.

Based in what you "believe", I find myself wondering is you even know what it means to be a follower of Christ?

Here is what it means to be Believer:

Matthew 12:30 (New International Version)

30"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.

Either you are TOTALLY for Christ, & HIS WORD, THE BIBLE, or you are totally against it!

There is no middle ground here!

To be honest, this is the problem. Man thinks that his views are right, yet time has shown that man cannot even direct his own steps, look at the mess the world is in!

It's Gods views that really matter, after all, he is the only one who can sort our problems out.

As for all good people go to heaven, If we think of the model prayer by Jesus @ Matthew 6:9-10, “YOU must pray, then, this way:
“‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. 10*Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth.

If we either go to heaven or hell, then whats this kingdom going to rule over if no one is going to be on the earth?

The scripture @ Matthew 5:5 reads, Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth.

So for those who obey Gods laws will live forever on the earth.

I feel the same way you do..and i wont judge you unlike some radical Christians who think they are above everyone that isn't like them..they don't own God so you be true to yourself..after all God doesn't want us to lie..so why lie to ourselves?..God Bless you

Know something: Christianity is just a term for religion. God loves all human mankind no matter what interpretation that people give. It will never change this fact that God loves His people that He gave His only begotten Son to whoever believes in Him, shall have life and life more abundantly. He did not choose who His son should die for...He gave His Son to "Whoever" believes! duh... Don't lose Faith ya. He loves you and your friend =)

Why do you feel you have to stick with a certain religious group? Is it not possible for you to have your own relationship with Jesus without someone telling you what you should and shouldn't do once every Sunday?

-IMP ;) :)

The basic requirement to be a Christian is to be anointed through the gift of the Holy Spirit in Baptism. Your sexual orientation is given to you by God. It is what you do with it that can be sinful. Not all Christians will go to heaven. Non-believers have as much chance of going to heaven as believers.

You can retain your belief in Christ and that he's the path to salvation, as Christians believe, but if you disagree with the Bible you disagree with God, since that is who Christians believe wrote the Bible (inspired word).

If you disagree with God, you couldn't have submitted to him like he requires. So then are you really a Christian?

You are either for God or against God there is no in between.
You cannot just decide what you want or don't want ,that is a choice only for God.
I would suggest that you study more to receive the Truth of the Word of God.
It is your Soul that we are talking about, don't cross Gods line.
The Bible is the Truth, and you can't write your own.
Go with God you won't be sorry.
