How do I reset service engine soon light on a 2001 Buick Lesabre?

I have replaced the Thermostat on my car which is why the light was on,but I need to know how to reset the service engine soon light.
 
You can't reset the SES light on these cars or any other vehicle from 1995 on. They are only erasable using a scanner. The PCM will erase the code or change it to a history code which will turn the light out, but that takes some time as the PCM has to do an internal diagnostic and see the circuit pass three consecutive times. Some of these diagnostics don't run very often.
