How do I set up a secure internet connection. I'm using cable.?

When my internet connections shows I'm connected it always indicates that it is unsecured. I believe you can fix it so no one in range can access your connection, but I don't know how to do it.
 
Each router system has its own personal address you can go to to change the name of the network and add a WPA key. Just google the name of your router and look for a website that will give you the web code. Enter this in your browser's GO bar. You will be prompted for a password, which is usually admin. The username is the same as well.
