How do i setup file sharing between a vista notebook and an XP Laptop. Please

Answer on messenger.? Vista notebook and an XP desktop. Networked. Can see each other in the network view. Desktop can view and make changes to the notebook's files. The notebook cannot access the files on the desktop.
HELP PLEASE!
