How do I switch phones with telus while on 3 year contract?

I got an HTC Desire about 1 year ago, and I never really enjoyed having it. So I want to switch to an iPhone because I recently started using their products and love them.

What I need to know is...Since I'm on a 3 year contract, how would I go about switching to an iPhone? Am I looking at a fee to do so? If I went with the iPhone I would renew my contract for another three years. Would I be able to get the iPhone for the discount price with 3 yr contract or would I be forced to pay the whole price?
 
On telus, you must be about 2 years into the contract to qualify for an upgrade. You could end the contract early by paying a hefty Early Termination Fee (ETF). And yes, it would renew your contract. However, you would have the discounted price of whatever model you choose.
