How do I transfer files from my Sony Ericsson J20i to my PC running windows XP?

I have a USB data cable that I'm using to connect my phone to my PC. Windows detects the hardware but seems to want some kind of software installation, the phone does not appear in 'My Computer' so I can't use it as if it were a memory stick.

Any ideas on what software I need or how to get it to work without software?

You could try bluetooth if your phone and computer both have it. just connect and transfer, the other option is using a Sony Ericsson PC suite which is like itunes for your phone (almost every phone brand has a PC suite) You can download it from cnet or something i think.
