I'm reading about the possible repeal of DADT, which I'm totally in favour of. But I keep seeing that one of the main arguments against is that the knowledge that a gay person is serving in any particular unit will damage the morale of that unit.
This is a concept I am really struggling to understand. How could it bother people so much that a homosexual is serving amongst them? Say you worked with someone for the last couple of years in the same unit. You've always had a great working relationship, and get along fine. How does finding out their sexual preference change anything. It's not like they're trying to bum you.
Seriously, I need a decent explanation as to how morale will be damaged if gay people were allowed to say "I'm gay."
